Another new mare 'Cherrytree Chablis' has joined us, she has some bloodlines we like so will see how we go with her. We welcome three new additions, the little shetland mare 'Ambaura Leilah' the grey welsh mountain colt 'Nilton Starcraft' & the welsh mountain mare 'Nattai Aderyn'. Many thanks to Jeanette Vetter & Sally Bayles for parting with their lovely ponies :-) With our show season coming to an end the ponies are looking forward to a break. Some of the ponies are already finished & turned out & some newies will get a bit of a run over the next few shows so they know what to expect next season. 'Owendale Superman' has had an outstanding few months in the show ring & has returned home to Marbet stud in Victoria. Foaling is over for this season at Shanamon with four foals for the season, three shetlands (two fillies & a colt) and one welsh mountain colt. We are very happy with all the babies this season. 'Annavale Pippin' has been sold to NSW, we wish his new owners all the best with him. We sadly lost our beloved 'Shanusti Half A Penny' on August 25th 2011 after foaling complications, Pen leave us a yearling colt but is sadly missed. 'Owendale Superman' is on loan from Marbet Stud in Victoria. Supie will be shown in SA this season. 'Kooyong Ceaser' has also joined the stud from Stuart Ryan of Kooyong Stud. Once Ceaser is broken to both saddle & harness he will be back out to some shows. Darrell & Bob Owen have been kind enough to lend us 'Radnor Sandstone' for the season. We cannot thank them enough, we truly love this old boy. The fantastic new banner is thanks to Kerri Afford, she has done a wonderful job & everyone got their favourite horse on there (except Georgia) so it pleased everyone for once. :-D Kerri also took the beautiful photos of Georgia riding Harley & Black Thorn under saddle. Shanamon Stud FINALLY has a new float which will make interstate travel easier, much bigger than the double olympic. This time we have opted for a 4 horse Imperial (can fit 5, lol). We welcome home an old friend 'Llanfairbryn Harlequin'. Harls has returned to be Georgia's new Best Friend. After a few years with kids harls is totally bombproof and has formed a strong friendship with young Georgia who rides him everywhere independently. Harls can be seen on 'Georgia's Page'. Thanks to Donna at Dee Bee stud for selling us the stunning little mare 'Shanusti Lil Carnival' not only will she be a valuable broodmare for our stud but with her wonderful nature she will also be Georgia's show pony. 'Owendale Black Thorn' & 'Annavale Pippin' have both been broken to saddle & taking to it well. We hope to have the boys out in some ridden classes this year also. 'Shanusti Mozart' has returned home from his 'working' holiday. We would like to thank Jeanette Vetter for looking after our boy, with a special thanks to Natalie Vetter who spoilt him rotten ... And he LOVED every minute. Moe was greatly missed while he was away & we eagerly await his two foals for us in August, with more to come next season. 'Shanusti Harte' & 'Stringybark Holly' were both laid to rest on the 25th of March 2011. Sadly Holly had developed a cancerous growth and after discussion with the vet it was decided the best option was to lay her to rest. Her illness was quick & sudden and she did not suffer. All those who know us, know how much Harte meant to us. Sadly the years had not been kind and his time had come. He will be greatly missed. 'Shanamon Spartacus' has been sold, we wish his new owners all the best with him. January has been a hard month here at Shanamon. Sadly Kalang LuLu was feeling her age and the decision was made to put her to sleep. We found Lou when she was well into her 20's, she had had a hard life and was very weary of people. Lou gave us a filly 'Shanamon Queen of Hartes' who is very special to our stud and for that she is irreplaceable. Lou was looking well until she foaled then had sudden weight loss, her age & past had caught up with her. Lou will be sadly missed, the only regret is we didn't have her through her younger years. Owendale Gaenor was also unwell at the time and although we had tried many different avenues we were unable to help her. Gigi & Lou we put to sleep on the 31st of January 2011. On the 17th of January 2011 our beloved Shetland Mare, Boree Glen Imogen was laid to rest. Immy leaves us with a 5 week old colt & a huge hole in our hearts & stud. She will be missed by all at Shanamon. The stunning mare 'OWENDALE GAENOR' has come to live with us. Gigi is a beautiful mare with some lovely old bloodlines. 'SHANAMON HARTELESS' has returned home. SHANUSTI SUNDANCE KID has been sold to Mel Williams of Buckland River Stud in Victoria. We wish Mel all the best with Kid out & about in the show ring and we are sure he will breed you some lovely little foals. Kid is entered for a heap of Victorian shows which he will be attending with his new owners. He will be missed. We cant wait to hear about Kids show results from Victoria and wish Mel all the best with her Multi Supreme Winning new addition. 'SHANAMON HARTE BREAKER' has been sold to a WONDERFUL new home, we couldn't be happier and expect big things from him in the future :-) 'SHANAMON LILY' has been sold to a lovely young 9yr old girl as a new best friend. We hope Lily brings you years of happiness and would love to see her out & about in the showring. News from Victoria that our lovely mare 'BOREE GLEN IMOGEN' has produced a very leggy black colt. We cant wait to see the little guy. Imogen will be bred back to 'WANDARRA STARDOM' before returning home. Thats 5 foals for 5 colts ..... hmmmm I wonder what colour 'SHANUSTI STARSTRUCK' colt will be???? lol 'KALANG LU LU' foaled a HUGE black colt on the 22nd November 2010, a full brother to 'SHANAMON QUEEN OF HARTE'. Both Lu & the colt are doing well. We would like to say a HUGE thank you to the late Pauline, Bob & Darrell Owen for selling us 'OWENDALE QUIZ' ! After years of being out of the show ring, we took Quiz to the SA All Welsh Show where she was awarded SUPREME WELSH MOUNTAIN .... This adds to her already extremely successful show career with: 1995 Welsh Feature Show - Best Youngstock Welsh Mountain, Supreme Welsh Mountain & Best Welsh in Hand 1996 Melbourne Summer Royal - Supreme Welsh Mountain & Best Welsh In Hand 24th October, WELL over due, 'STRINGYBARK GLORY BE' Finally had her foal, 19 days late !!!!!!! Seems to be a trend the girls like to foal while there is a show on !!! A gorgeous piebald colt, he is the image of his father & we couldn't be happier. He has been named 'SHANAMON HARTE BREAKER'. The stunning palomino part Arab mare 'WARLORDS PANTARRA' foaled in the early hours of the 3rd of October 2010. The only day I left her, she foaled. We welcome 'SHANAMON SPARTACUS' a wonderful palomino & white colt who is stunning !!! We cant wait to get him out & about next season. 'SHANUSTI HALF A PENNY' foaled a lovely piebald colt on the 5th of August. Named 'SHANAMON SACRED HARTE'. We welcome a new Welsh Mountain mare to Shanamon. The stunning 'OWENDALE QUIZ', we are very luck to have such a mare join us & cannot thank the Owens enough. Quiz will become a valuable broodmare for us & will make some shows later this year. We are thrilled this stunning mare has joined us and expect big things from her. Another Long weekend, Another trip to Victoria. This time to pick up our little surprise. We welcome the tall Australian Pony filly 'KOOYONG CELESTE', Thanks to Stuart for finally saying yes to selling her. And also home is the lovely Welsh B filly 'OWENDALE RACHEL', Rach is a real sweet natured girl and we hope to have her out a bit next season. 'OWENDALE QUEEN BEE' surprised everyone with a stunning little Bay filly with four white socks and a neat little blaze. We welcome 'SHANAMON LILY' and cant wait to show her off. What do you do on a long weekend when everyone has time off work?? You travel to Victoria. After another long 12hr drive we landed at our destination. After a sleep it was off to look at studs. After seeing over 1000 ponies, including the crime of the century (a magnificent stallion gelded only a few days before we got there) we saw a lot of ponies and after a LOT of talking on the way home ..... Keep an eye on the pages :-) ***SA AMPS HIGH POINT SCORES ARE OUT AND THE KID ANNIHILATED*** WINNING THE STALLION HP AND THE OVERALL HIGH POINT ON 235 POINTS I Don't think any other SA AMPS Pony has ever accumulated that many points in a season before. We cant wait to see what he can do with a full preparation and eligible for Shetland & Miniature Pony classes. A multi supreme winner in three states in Miniature Pony & Shetland Classes. Whilst in Victoria we visited a few studs and now have a few extra additions !!!! Funny how that works. Our newbies will be out and about next season, we will try to get the two filly foals to a few of the foal shows. 2010 Summer Royal. Rushed due to work, a change of farrier and stinking hot weather we drove to Vic to show Saturday in the breeds and was then driving home for a SA show on the Sunday, back to Vic on the Monday to compete at the royal. The two welsh boys were on a high of being locked up for so long, and pumped with feed to keep their condition. Pippin got off (broke the 'D' on his Y piece) he took off through the centre of the rings, saw Den (Black Thorn) did a 360 and went straight up to him. Although short lived and easily caught I do think Pippin now holds track record for Werribee, lol. At the other end of the scale Kid was flat. After Pulling up sore the week before due to a new farrier he was not impressed with the trip. All three boys bombed out so we were able to get away early for the drive home. 12 hours later as the boys were unpacking the car/ float I was washing Kid & Queen of Hartes in the pitch black for the Sunday Show. Steve stayed home to catch up on sleep and dad & I went to the AMPS Show. Sleeping sidelines up until the classes, Queeny was in a 'mood' and wouldn't do a thing she was told. Kid seemed happier to be home but was still flat. He won his class, champion stallion, grand champion entire & Supreme. After a 2.5hr drive home he was knackered so we undone the float and went back to Vic with just the car to have a look around...... Me & my bright ideas :-) 'SHANUSTI STARSTRUCK' thrilled everyone when she foaled a beautiful black filly on the 18th January 2010. Nick named 'Foxy' she will be given a registered name soon and photos to come :-) Foxy's registered name will be 'SHANAMON STARDUST' With the weather being so hot in SA the SA AMPS Championship Show was postponed. The next morning we left for Victoria, all the ponies were in and ready to go and as it was only in the 30's in Victoria it seemed like a good idea. We attended Wonthaggi Ag Show where Kid won Supreme 8.2hh shetty (Queeny won Jr champ). We then attended the Gipsland Champ Show on the Sunday where Kid won supreme exhibit. Worth the drive and long weekend. 'SHANAMON LAS VEGAS' has gone to his new home, we wish his owners all the best with him. 3rd January 2010 'SHANUSTI MOON MARMY II' foaled a very nice skewbald colt, 'SHANAMON HARTE-ATTACK' . Due to him being a boy he was offered for sale and will go to his new home once he is weaned. A new mare at Shanamon, 'BOREE GLEN IMOGEN' She will come home, after a short visit to Victoria to an outside (bigger) stallion. Imogen is the full sister to the stunning mare 'BOREE GLEN BRITTANY' who we used to own (photos on our gallery) 'STRINGYBARK GLORY BE' produced us with a bay & white colt on 30-10-2009. 'SHANAMON SIR SCHMEAGLE' already has a new home and we wish his new owners all the best with him. We welcome the new mare 'TINTINARA DAWN' from Jon & Leanne Baker of Domino Downs Stud. Dawn is a lovely mare who has long been admired. Dawn will join our broodmares. A HUGE thank you to Anne for parting with Pippin, we will bring him out this season and expect big things. We are extremely grateful. |
